All Oribe shampoos & conditioners are pH balanced for optimal hair health. Shampoo’s typical pH range for normal hair is between 5-6. Oribe shampoo pH levels average around 5.75 to maintain healthy hair. Conditioner pH is important because you need a specific charge to keep the hair moisture balanced. Our conditioners have an average pH of 5, slightly lower than the shampoos, in order to deliver higher moisture attributes. 

Ortho-Phthalates, often referred to as phthalates (or esters of ortho-phthalic acid), are a group of chemical compounds that have been utilized throughout many industries. In the cosmetic industry, phthalates are used in nail polishes and hairsprays, and/or as a solvent in fragrances. Beginning January 1, 2025, individual states of the United States will start restricting the distribution of cosmetic products containing ortho-phthalates in all cosmetic products intermittently.

At Oribe Hair Care, Diethyl Phthalate (DEP) was previously used in a small amount in one of our discontinued fragrance oils. Having said so, we have proactively updated and eliminated the presence of Diethyl Phthalate (DEP) from all our affected product formulations. Starting 2025, all our newly manufactured products will be phthalate free.

Oribe products do not contain Microbeads.

Oribe recognizes that palm/palm oil is a commonly used raw ingredient in consumer products. We also recognize that the extensive use of this crop carries negative impacts such as biodiversity loss and potential climate change. We are committed to the responsible sourcing of palm oils (RSPO) from our product and raw material suppliers. In 2019 we started our RSPO initiative and engaged with our suppliers proactively to reduce the use of non-certified palm/palm oil/palm oil-derived ingredients in our products. Throughout the years, we have successfully identified and phased out many palm/palm oil/palm oil-derived ingredients from non-certified sources. 

Some of our products do contain Mica. We only use Mica (or mica containing ingredients) from reputable suppliers. We are currently exploring the option to remove Mica from several products.

All Oribe products are formulated without intentionally added sodium chloride†, a common thickening agent and filler in the beauty industry that is known to negatively affect keratin treated hair. Because we do not formulate with this ingredient in our products, all Oribe products are safe for keratin treated hair.

Oribe does not position our brand to be a clean beauty brand because the definition of “clean beauty” differs from brand to brand, market to market and, most of all, is not regulated. For example, some ingredient(s) can be allowed in one brand’s “clean beauty” standard and yet prohibited by another. Oribe Hair Care’s focus is to formulate products with safe, high quality and innovative ingredients.

Oribe is not an all natural cosmetic brand. We strive to formulate our products with the highest level of natural or naturally derived ingredients possible given the specific formula; however, product safety and performance are our primary goals. We have an extensive list of restricted ingredients that we do not formulate with. Each product is carefully crafted with a blend of natural, naturally derived and the optimal synthetic (i.e., highly functional silicones) ingredients such that performance is never compromised.

Oribe Hair Care is committed to providing safe cosmetic products to our customers and continuously monitors the quality and safety of our aerosol products. Oribe ensures that our aerosol products (including dry shampoo) are safe for human use, and none of the Oribe aerosol products are formulated with benzene. In some instances, trace amounts (< 1 ppm) of technically unavoidable benzene can occur.
